More Walk Magazine Front Covers

“Ross has really raised the bar for our magazine photography through his expertise in shooting outdoors, even in challenging conditions. He’s completely unflappable, totally committed and indefatigably cheerful on every shoot – an absolute pleasure to work with.”

Matt Jones, Editor, WALK Magazine.

Here are the results from four seasonal photo shoots with the Ramblers Association and the River Group. Don’t let the beautiful views fool you, we battled some pretty brutal weather conditions to get these shots. The summer shot was at the end of a day of biblical rain storms in North Wales, while the winter cover was shot in Glen Coe, Scotland, which dealt us fog, snow, rain and deep, boot filling bogs. Couple that with my deranged assistant nearly spilling my entire Nikon camera kit in to a stream whilst jumping it with the camera bag partially open and you have the potential for disaster, luckily it was avoided and all worked out well in the end.

Status Quo – Access All Areas

LOVE the Union Chapel shots Ross – Well done!

Simon Porter, Status Quo’s Manager

Last summer I did three  shoots for “The Mighty Quo”

Two at festivals, Car Fest South and Astonbury in Oxford and an amazing acustic show at the Union Chapel, Islington. Fortunately we had “access all areas” and we could shoot the whole show. Unfortunatley the band suffered quite a blow after the first show in Oxford with Rick Parfitt be taken ill shortly after a show in Turkey. Francis and the band had to react quickly to change their line up and honor their touring schedule.

Sadly Rick passed away later in the year. The few times we met him he was always in good spirts and was full of funny rock’n’roll stories. He had amazing stage presence and as you’d expect knew exactly how to put on a great show. A real loss to music and a true legend of Rock ‘n’ Roll.

Zakti Active

“Ross has worked with us launching our new brand Zakti Active, he really captured what the brand is about.

Such an eye for detail, the results look fantastic!”

Sam Jones, Head of Woman’s Wear.

So here is a selection of yoga, active and dance shots I did for the hottest brand to hit the high streets this year, Zakti.

Shot on location in London and Switzerland I used the Nikon D800 for the flash work with the Elinchrom Style RX600 units and the Nikon D4 for daylight. I processed the lot with CaptureOne Pro.

Dare 2B AW15

“Ross is a leader in his field, combining expert knowledge with a orignal creativity. No better choice for action/lifestyle photoshoots.”

Graham Rickard – Managing Director at Dare2b

A few shots from a photoshoot I did last year in Tignes, France for Dare2b as part of their AW15 campaign. The piste drivers there did a fine job of building us a fairly big kicker and luckily for us we managed to get turns done in the first snow of the winter.

PFD skis

“Ross has worked with us from day one, from workshop shoots, to action in the Alps.

His experience and knowledge has meant all shoots have been stress free with superb outcomes.”

Rupert Gammond, Designer, Company Director.

This is such a fantastic project, Rupert contacted me and told me about his Bamboo Skis, once I’d seen them I couldn’t resist getting involved, a breath of fresh air from the industry norm. So over the last year I’ve shot a series of images showing the process and worked with him in the alps shooting the finished articles in action.

Ski Basics Interiors Photoshoot

“We commissioned Ross to take shots of all our chalets in the Alps. The results went beyond our expectations, the pictures have proved very successful in a series of marketing campaigns and enabled us to rebuild a new website.

Sales are already up 40% on last year and this is largely down to the new pictures. Thank you Ross we look forward to working with you again.”

Jason Jenkins, Company Director.

Here are the results from a recent shoot for Ski Basics in MeribelFrance. The brief was to shoot all of their properties interiors and exteriors to a high production value and also capture some lifestyle/detail/action. Other than losing my car keys it all went well. I used the Nikon D800 for the shoot.

InTheSnow Fashion Shoot

“Professional, funny, and totally dedicated, day and night, until the results are perfect. His passion enthusiasm and drive for the best shot is absolutely infectious.”

Dominic Killenger, Director, InTheSnow Magazine.

As last winter drew to a close I was drawn back out to beautiful Zermatt to do a fashion photo shoot for In The Snow’s new publication “Love The Mountains” Of cause, the weather did it’s usual trick of providing me with the whole gammut of conditions in just 4 days, which tends to send you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions and frustration (especially when the fog sets in). But if there’s one thing I’ve learnt over the years it’s to try and use the elements to your advantage, so we carried on and shot through in all conditions, using misty mountains and ancient wooden chalets as backdrops. I used the D800 for most of the shoot and natural light.

Many thanks Rob Stewart at Ski Press and My Switzerland for all of their assistance. Also to Emily Sarsfield, Vicky Norman, James Henri and Kieran O’Rourke for all of their modelling skills.
