CAT Mobile Phone Photo Shoot. November 19th, 2014
This was an action photo shoot I did for CAT Mobile, I was asked to provide help with the production finding models and various elements of clothing and equipment to match the brief and also find a location. The brief was for snow but it was August and it had to be in Europe so the obvious location for me was Saas Fee, Switzerland.
I also had to shoot action pictures of mountain biking, hiking and working environments. To go along with the action shots was a selection of “wallpaper” backgrounds and product shots of the phone on location which I used the Nikon D800 for.
The shoot could not have gone better, the weather and the snow were superb and the models were brilliant. On my return to the UK I shot the tree surgery pictures, did all of the digital retouch and supplied the finished pictures to a very happy client as you can see from below.
“We worked with Ross on a shoot for the launch of a new prosumer rugged mobile phone. He sourced the location, models and basically made the whole shoot happen. I can’t fault his professionalism and attention to detail, the client was happy with the shots long before Ross was. We ended up with a suite of imagery that surpassed our expectations and blew the client away. A real pro who is also a joy to work with.” Joff Sumner – Creative Services Director, Red Consultancy
Dare2b AW13 Photo Shoot with Driven Agency. September 26th, 2013
This time last year I was doing a shoot with the Driven Agency for Dare2b clothing Autumn/Winter 13 range. We shot it in Saas Fee, Switzerland for a week with fairly tricky weather and snow conditions through out, hence we used the Elinchrom Quadras quite a lot. I used the Nikon D800 for most of the non action and the flash action photo’s, but reached for the Nikon D4 for the skiing pictures and the nightlife photography.
Here’s a little video of the shoot below.
Video of the Ben Savage Photo Shoto in Llanberis North Wales. March 7th, 2013
Here’s a behind the scenes video shot by Noddy Gowerns / Elate Media when I was up in north Wales shooting with Ben Savage. The Welsh weather did it’s level best to keep the Heli out of the sky by supplying lots of wind and rain, but we did manage to get it air bourne eventually with an ION strapped underneath to get a little footage. I really enjoyed doing this little project with Ben and Noddy so keep an eye out for more coming soon.
Driven Photo Shoot in Tenerife February 20th, 2013
This was a shoot I did last year with the Driven Agency in Tenerife for Dare 2b, we shot mostly in Mount Teide national park which I have to say was pretty spectacular not to mention roasting hot, which was fine in February. We shot mostly mountain biking with Ben Savage and Hanna Barnes and road biking with Oscar Pereiro. We also did a few bouldering shots and a little running. I shot with the Quadra’s for a couple of shots but we also used reflectors as the sun was so bright. Shooting in a dormant volcano is slightly weird as the whole place is covered in what can only be described as cat litter and a fine brown dust, which is great for biking action shots but plays havoc with the camera gear. I was having to hide my camera up the front of my shirt immediately after every shot and changing lenses almost made me cry.
Trials Biking and Mountain Biking Photo Shoot in North Wales. November 7th, 2012
Here are a few shots that I did last week with Ben Savage in North Wales. We went to an abandoned quarry and dragged the Elinchrom Ranger’s and my new Lithium Ion Quadra Hybrid’s up the hill in the pouring rain to light some trials biking images, we also shot a couple of Mountain biking pictures on Bens new Santa Cruz Tallboy 29er. It turned out pretty well, the location was fantastic and I’ll definitely be shooting some more pictures there in the future.
Mountain Warehouse AW12/13 Catalogue Photo Shoot. September 3rd, 2012
Early September I was back in Wales with Mountain Warehouse for their Autumn Winter 12 photo shoot, all fingers crossed this time for some better weather. First morning the cloud was at toe level again, but as forecast, it broke up quite early on in the morning after which it proved to be glorious weather for whole shoot. I shot it all on my new Nikon D4 camera using a mix of natural light, sometimes bounced using California Sunbounce’s and Elinchrom Quadra flashes, the splendid Welsh countryside also lending a hand to produce some great results. Many thanks to Charlotte, Martin, Rebecca and Duncan for all of their help and hill climbing.
ION Mountain Biking July 25th, 2012
This month we went over to Vallandry in France to shoot a mountain biking movie for ION camera’s using just ION camera’s. We stayed at the Goat Shed in Moulon, glad that we’d left the UK‘s rain behind us we were treated to sensational weather for the whole shoot. The trails where are just epic, we got some great footage using overhead zip wires, we also shot a few paragliding clips at sunset in the end scenes of the movie. I had to shoot some still’s during the shoot, and although we can’t post the movie at the moment as it hasn’t been released by ION yet, I can post a few of the still shots from the week. Many thanks to Hana, Gordy and Mansell for all the their hard work, can’t wait for part two!
Óscar Pereiro March 18th, 2012
Here’s a portrait I took of him on Mount Teide.
Mountain Biking and Running Stock Photography in North Wales. November 14th, 2011
Time to shoot a little stock photography for Cultura and I’d got just the spot for it. I’ve waited a long time to shoot at this particular location with the right conditions but ever year something wasn’t right, mostly weather and diary. So with renewed determination for the autumn I kept an eye on the Met Office website with my fingers crossed. Eventually I saw a possible break in the weather coming up. I asked Kevin Harris to come up and model, and after two days sitting out rain and fog we decided to chance it and drive to Wales. By 2.30 in the afternoon we where there and the light was just incredible. After a quick look around we got to work and shot for two and a half hours and I couldn’t have be happier, I’d taken the Rangers with me just in case, but it turned out that we hardly used them, as the large flash in the sky was doing a fine job.
